Maternity leave (CSED) is 24 weeks (mother's choice: 4 weeks prenatal + 20 postnatal, or 24 postnatal). To be eligible, birth parent needs to be insured for 365+ days in 2 years before birth. After maternity, there’s an option to stay until the child turns 2 (GYED) and after GYED, there’s an option to stay at home until the child turns 3 (GYES). Source CSED: 100% of daily average gross earnings of previous year; no ceiling. 15% personal income tax deducted; no SSC or pension contribution on the benefit (mothers under 30 are PIT-exempt up to HUF 576,601/month gross in 2024).
